The Freedom Discipline (How To Utilise it to Build Your Side Hustle)

The problem is you feel indisciplined. You are not indisciplined. You feel indisciplined.

You want to be disciplined, but things are still slipping away.

The only place you are disciplined is your job. That is a forced discipline coming from outside.

You have decided to start an online Business alongside your job, but you need more discipline.

Some days, you are in your working room, i.e., your war room, at 6 p.m.; other days, you are at 9 p.m.; some days, you cannot even touch your system.

You have been trying and moving from one system to another, one coach to another, and one model to another.

The reality is- it is about something other than the model, system, or coach. It was never about them. It was always about you. Your belief works everywhere.

At present, you go to work every day, and you are disciplined. You believe that if you go to work every day, money will come at the end of the month. That is a truth, too.

There is a belief system, and so are your actions aligned. All your actions lead to one thing: reporting to the office on time. If it is 9 AM, by hook or crook, you will report at 9 AM.

If your reporting time is 8:30 AM, you will report to the office by 8:30 AM.

Remember the day when you have to catch a flight / board a train? You are the most disciplined individual. At least you will catch the flight, bus, train, whatever.

Why the same discipline did not work for your dreams? Ideally, the discipline that you carry on your job is forced.

It is not a self-imposed discipline. You know that you have to reach the office and do the job.

You complete your daily tasks on the job irrespective of whether you have a feel for it or not.

Whether you say, “I do not feel like working today,” no feelings work. First, you have to reach the workplace, and second, you must do the daily tasks. Your everyday tasks for 30 days will take up a significant chunk of your month, and you will get a salary at the end of the month.

Why do you cannot practice the same discipline when working toward your dreams?

The dream is to get freedom. The dream is to start something independently and attain freedom from your job.

The Digital Opportunity in India

Before we dive into the solution, let’s look at the immense potential for online businesses in India:

  1. According to a 2024 report by NASSCOM, India’s digital economy is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 27%.
  2. A recent LinkedIn study shows that 82% of Indian professionals are considering a career change, and 62% are interested in starting their own business.
  3. India’s internet users are expected to reach 900 million by 2025, creating a vast market for digital entrepreneurs.

As you cannot build your side income dream, this impacts your work and the journey.

When you reach the office, you may wonder, “Why am I here? “Is this the right place? “

You believe you should choose another way, but all your actions are completed only in a job. You can also not give 100 percent to your job because you are not 100 percent on the job.

Your mind is on the job, but your heart and soul are elsewhere.

As long as you are on the job and working, you are not thinking about the side hustle.

When your job ends, you seek another income source to fuel your dreams and freedom.

This is impacting you mentally and physically. It is taking up your mental space and physical time.

This leads to a self-conclusion that “I am not disciplined.”

In reality, you are not an indisciplined person. You have a habit of being indisciplined when creating a side hustle beyond your job.

You are 100 percent sure in your job and getting the rewards after 30 days.

In the case of your side hustle / online business, the rewards are not guaranteed after 30 days.

The process I adopt to Build my Online Business

  1. I set aside 2 hours for my work to write daily.
  2. I open my Tweet Hunter account at the beginning of the session to understand the data and analytics. I then find the most engaging content from the analysis.
  3. I pick the title and topic once I have the most engaging content.
  4. I bring that to my notion of working space.
  5. I start writing using a copywriting model on that topic. A simple copywriting model can be PASTOR (Problem, Agitation, Story, Transformation, Offer and Review)
  6. In the 2 hours, My content is ready using the copywriting model.
  7. I would publish part of the content on X, Threads, and other social media.
  8. I will sit for another writing streak, look for the analytics and data, and repeat.
  9. I will publish my Blog, Newsletter on Medium and Email every Saturday.
  10. I will repeat each step from 1-9.

Imagine waking up and watching a sale amount happening. You will get 100K from your salary in a job from one place only. When it comes to online money, the same money will come from different places, i.e., multiple sources.

Initially, you may get little money/revenue from your online income streams.

The power of compounding works here, and your small paying accounts will become prominent.
