The problem is that you believe it is challenging to build an online Business with the job.
Your office work occupies your mind and physical space even after office hours. This leaves you to feel there is no way out.
You look for shortcuts in the market, like high-paying schemes. You enroll in them and find that they don’t work.
What works is the fundamentals only. You realize that only fundamentals work, and no strategy or shortcut will work.
You believe the job is fundamental and going to stay forever. You have been working at your job long and have survived. This has made you believe the existing structure/model will keep you employable.
“The dream is free. The hustle is sold separately.” – Unknown
Your Division of Work
1. Solid work – Watching your parents on a full-time job your whole life made you believe a job is solid work. Your job will remain forever. Also, you have seen organizations surviving for decades. This has created a new reality. You have seen that the business has been running for generations in a physical business. The job and physical business are solid work for you.
2. Temporary / Short-term work – The Online Business is temporary/short-term for you.
It may erode with the change in time and technology. There might be changes in the things, and you may fall to zero. This belief prevents you from pursuing the digital business/side hustle. Nothing is permanent; even the so-called permanent-looking work faces issues when things hit. When Covid 2019 hit, I was running my coaching and training institute. I received a letter from the local authorities to shut the classes. After a few days, many things were online except for the physical coaching and training institute. The big jolt was when I could not pay rent and salaries.
The business ran for 6 months, and then I closed it off. Things do not go well.
Stop Searching for Solid Work
You have been searching for some solid work. A lifelong work like your current job—leading you to believe that a job is the only solution because it is permanent work.
You have faith that if my current company fires me, many other companies will hire me because I have a skill. My skill is a need, not me. As long as my skills are in demand, my job is in demand, and I will always have employment.
Is that true? Dismayed with many job losses and cost-cutting, you always fear what will happen. If your company fires you, you do not know whether you will have an offer immediately or will take time to get a job.
People have been saying, “Stay and survive wherever you are.” This is another kind of fear prevalent in the market, and the fear psychology is working against you. You devote more time and show more availability on the job to stay relevant and worthwhile.
Due to ample supply in the market, your company will get many job seekers, but in your case, you need to survive. You must sail through the present job, letting the days and months pass.
You are waiting for the economy to recover. You are waiting for the job market to get better. You are waiting for the existing company to give you a raise and promotions.
You are very dependent because the mere thought of being jobless for a month gives you jittery feelings.
You have your whole family dependent on the job. There is nothing wrong with thinking that way.
This impacts you mentally and your belief that nothing is outside the job.
You are growing little in your job and have a double impact with the existing ceiling on your Income.
There is a cognitive dissonance that impacts your psychology.
On one hand, you want to leave your job to do something meaningful.
So, you believe there is no other way than the job to survive.
Even after many years, one does not have a corpus to help one survive a job loss.
You have created Emis – Home loan, Car, and credit card EMI with your job.
You are doing two parallel jobs together.
Working for your organization.
Working for the banks to pay your home loan, car loan, and credit card EMI.
This duality is taking your time, energy, money, and effort.
You invested in technology, courses, media, and other things. All need time and effort.
You have invested in coaches, expecting them to work for you.
In the end, you realize that you only have to do everything. No course, coach, or anything else will work for you.
This dissatisfaction is impacting your emotions and mentally.
When you are at work, you think about something extra, a side hustle.
At home, you are thinking about the work in the office because that is your pattern.
Your mind wants a solution – you search for something online. You watch some random reels/videos and caleone. During the call, you share what is and is not happening in your life.
You talk all about your job that it is not allowing you to grow. Then, you ask for a business / some idea over the call. You get the business idea / some idea over the call, and one hour is gone. By disconnecting the call, you reject the idea, too. As you believe, the person on the other side cannot understand your concern and what you are facing. The days and months have passed, expecting the miracle to happen. Things remain the same, and you are back at the end of the day and waiting for the other day to

You cannot go out in the market talking about everything you know. Because of your life experiences, you can talk about health, wealth, or relationships. The simplest start method is to write on X threads / Substack notes. Read other people’s posts about the topic you love to read and share. See how they are writing and what they are doing to share the content.
4. Let people know you exist—The most significant factor is visibility. You need to tell the world that you exist. Create content on the topic you like / love / are known for, i.e., your niche. Once you have written that content on any social media, market it. Please share it with some groups/friends and let the audience engage with your content. Let the world know that you exist.
5. Engage with people and build your audience—You do not have to create fresh content. People are creating content, and you can do what you do in everyday life, i.e., giving advice. Repeat the same. Share your views on the topics to build your knowledge/authority. Sooner or later, people will like your perspective. The audience of other people will become your audience.
6. Bring people from social media to your email list. Once you have built the audience, you can do the monetization of your knowledge. What I do is I always bring people from my social media to my FREE course.
They can access my FREE course, plus I also have access to their emails that help me to send valuable content and offers. It is a win-win situation. They get valuable content and sometimes offers from me. Sooner / later, my content your content will get monetized.
7. Share knowledge in your newsletters—
This is the tact I do every Saturday. You are reading this as a newsletter only. I share one valuable piece of content that can help my audience. They get value out of the newsletter, and I get the attention and Trust of my audience. Become the problem brand known for providing solutions to people’s problems.
